#30: Would I want my loved ones working here?

There’s a lot of talk of culture in business circles lately … you’ve noticed that right?

It seems everybody is offering advice on improving it, but at the end of the day …

You’re left wondering just how in the world are you supposed to know if you’re making any real progress.

Fear not, because that’s where today’s question will provide crystal clear clarity.

See, if you ask yourself:

“Would I want my loved ones working here?” (assuming they love your line of work) and you hesitate for more than a nano-second …

You may very well have room for improvement.

Business leaders (especially those who struggle with staffing) are often blind to the reality of the situation.

It’s easy to blame ‘the economy’, ‘the government’, ‘specific generations’, etc. etc. etc.

But at the end of the day, the culture of the company, and their ability to retain the best team members, starts at the top.

Sure, nobody ever sets out to have a bad culture …  It’s just that sometimes leaders overlook the tiny things that make all the difference.

However …

If you’re to take your business to new heights, a little time and effort getting this right will pay off huge dividends.

Now, and also years into the future.

So let me ask you … what changes can you implement today so that the next time this question comes up, you’ll answer with an enthusiastic ‘Hell yeah’?
