Did you see it yet?
The documentary about Warren Buffett?
So many revealing insights into the mind of the investment legend who has amassed a $86 billion dollar fortune.
And who stops by at McDonald’s every morning for a $3.17 breakfast on the way to the office!
Well, it’s $3.17 on a good day.
In his own words – straight from the documentary as he’s driving to McDonald’s – here’s how he explains his daily breakfast routine …
“When I’m not feeling quite so prosperous, I might go with the $2.61, which is two sausage patties, and then I put them together and pour myself a Coke. $3.17 is a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, but the market’s down this morning, so I’ll pass up the $3.17 and go with the $2.95.”
“I tell my wife, as I shave in the morning, I say, ‘Either $2.61, $2.95 or $3.17.’ And she puts that amount in the little cup by me here [in the car]”.
Did you see what he did there?
Clever. Super clever.
He connects the billion-dollar business decisions he will be making throughout the day, to the day-to-day decisions he makes in his personal life.
He stays ‘hungry’. And he keeps it ‘real’.
Is it any wonder he’s so far ahead of any of his competitors – many of whom probably chow down on a $20 omelet in a fancy Wall Street restaurant each morning … irrespective of how business is going.
Now before you get the wrong idea, I AM NOT suggesting that you adopt Buffett’s ritual (and not because I’m criticizing his lifestyle choice – seems to work for him, right?)!
Where YOU buy breakfast and what YOU spend on breakfast is obviously not the point.
You need to figure out your own philosophy and ritual.
But until you do, why not try starting each morning by asking today’s Smart CEO Question …
At least you’ll know you’ll be in good company.
